About Our Benefits
Medical plans
UMKC offers all regular, full-time employees a choice betrween two medical plans through UnitedHealthcare. Preventive services are covered 100% for in-network providers.

Dental plans
We provide dental benefits through Delta Dental. You can choose between the the Dental Base Plan and the Dental Buy Up Plan.

Vision plan
The vision plan is administered by EyeMed Vision Care, which gives enrollees access to the Insight network. The plan provides a discounted group rate available at all locations where the insurance is accepted.

Life insurance
All regular, full-time employees receive a life insurance policy equal to their annual salary free of charge. You may purchase additional plans for yourself, your spouse or your dependents.

Long-term disability insurance
Regular, full-time employees are given a choice of two levels, the Core Plan or the Buy-up Plan. The Core Plan provides a benefit amount of 60% of base salary, while the Buy-up Plan provides the benefit amount of 66.67% of base salary.

Accidental death and dismemberment insurance
You may purchase accidental death and dismemberment (AD and D) insurance in increments of $25,000, up to a maximum of $150,000. You may also purchase coverage for your family as a percentage of your own coverage.

Employee assistance program
Through the employee assistance program (EAP), you receive up to three phone or in-person counseling sessions with a professional counselor. You can also access a wide range of resources.
EAP
Tuition reduction program
Eligible employees receive a 75% reduction of tuition and supplemental fees for up to 15 credit hours per year. Eligible spouses and dependents receive a 50% reduction of tuition for up to 140 credit hours per year.
